Within Gramo remuneration is a statutory form of payment or compensation for the use of recorded music in the public space.

Royalties are often used for other forms of payment that have been agreed between two or more parties, such as an agreement between artist and record company.

The remuneration rights Gramo administers is based on the Copyright Act § 21 , which states that performing artists and producers are entitled to payment if their audio recordings have been used in broadcasting or performed in public.
